A grand private villa in Abu Hamour, Doha, wrapped in roughly 2,000 m² of white Syrian stone — one of the largest classical facades Auckland has delivered. Fluted pilasters rise the full height of the elevations, tiered cornices cap each floor, and every window sits inside a moulded surround with its own carved keystone and bracketed sill. Auckland supplied, fabricated and installed the whole envelope end to end, keeping the classical proportions crisp and consistent across a facade of this size.
A monumental classical facade
The elevations are clad in clean white Syrian stone with even ashlar coursing, and the classical order is built in solid stone rather than applied as trim. Fluted pilasters divide the bays and carry tiered, projecting cornices around the building, while deep reveals and layered mouldings give the facade its shadow and depth. Across roughly 2,000 m² and several storeys, the language stays consistent on every elevation, so the villa reads as one deliberate, monumental design from the street.
Fluted pilasters and moulded surrounds — carved in-house
The carved detail is where a facade like this succeeds or fails. Our workshop produced the fluted pilaster shafts and capitals, the multi-part cornices, and the window surrounds with their carved keystones and console brackets from Syrian stone — roughed out on our CNC line for accuracy, then hand-finished so the flutes run true and every repeated element matches across the building. On a facade this size, holding that detail consistent is precise, patient work, and it is exactly the carved stonework we specialise in.
Jabal al-Zawiya stone, built for Doha
The stone is Syrian Jabal al-Zawiya — a dense, bright grade prized for facade work because it holds fine carving and stands up to Qatar's heat without cracking. It is honed to an even matte finish, and the cladding is mechanically fixed with stainless steel, so the elevation moves with the temperature and stays sound for decades. Because Auckland imported, fabricated and installed the whole job, one accountable team carried it from block through fabrication to the last fixed carving.
