A grand private villa in Ain Khaled, Doha, given the full classical treatment in Syrian stone. Auckland supplied, fabricated and installed around 1,500 m² of Jabal al-Zawiya stone — the carved Corinthian columns and capitals, the arched entrance with its carved spandrels, the deep cornices, moulded window surrounds and rusticated coursing — one of the most heavily-detailed facades we've delivered, and exactly the kind of carved stonework that is our specialty.
A heavily-designed classical facade
This is classical architecture done properly in solid stone — not applied trim. A columned portico frames the entrance, arches spring from carved capitals over ornamented spandrels, and layered cornices, pilasters and moulded window surrounds carry the language around the whole villa. Wrought-iron balconies and a mansard roofline complete a facade designed to read as a landmark on its street in Ain Khaled.
Carved columns and capitals — our specialty
The carved elements are where a facade like this is won or lost. Our workshop produced the column shafts, the acanthus-leaf Corinthian capitals, the bases, arches and cornices from Syrian stone — roughed out on our CNC line for accuracy, then hand-finished so the detail is crisp and every repeated element matches across the elevation. Across roughly 1,500 m², keeping that carving consistent is precise, patient work, and it is what few contractors in Qatar can do in-house.
Jabal al-Zawiya stone, built for Doha
The stone is Syrian Jabal al-Zawiya — a dense, warm-white grade prized for facade work because it holds fine carving and resists Qatar's heat and cracking. It is honed to an even matte finish and the cladding is mechanically fixed with stainless steel, so the facade moves with the temperature and stays sound for decades. Auckland imported, fabricated and installed the whole job, so one accountable team carried it from block to the last fixed carving.
